Risonpalm limited was incorporated on the 24th of November 1975 with responsibility for the development, production and marketing of Oil Palm and other associated by-products.
It has offices and production location centres in the following locations;
NUCLEAR ESTATE, UBIMA:
The estate comprises of about 10,000 hectares of oil palm plantation, with modern amenities and a Palm oil mill, with a capacity of 40metric of fresh fruit bunches (FFB) per hour.
OIL PALM ESTATE, ELELE:
The company inherited 3000 hectares oil palm estate from the Eastern Nigeria Development Corporation (ENDC). Part of the hecterage was replanted with improved Tenera variety.
The estate also has a modern housing estate with some social amenities. A 20 metric ton (FFB) per hour mill was started in the early 90’s
AGRO PROCESSING COMPLEX, AHOADA:
This complex was designed specifically for packaging of special palm oil (SPO)
Crushing of palm kernel and refining of vegetable oil, at present, only the SPO packaging plant is functional. The company has continued to maintain not only the infrastructure/ facilities but has equally remained a national and international reference point until early 1994 when posting of corporate profits began to decline.
The company currently has a supervisory link with the Rivers State Ministry of Agriculture, given the large size of the oil palm plantation and the capacity, the company should be able to satisfy the palm oil need and demand of the country, all things being equal, the products are useful and can be exported as raw material to earn foreign exchange for Nigeria.
A revitalized Risonpalm limited could generate a minimum of 4 billion incomes annually from its product and generate employment for about 2,000 workers, however, it’s presently operating at below 5% of its installed capacity due to various challenges.
