The Fisheries Department of the Rivers State Ministry of Agriculture is charged with the responsibility to performing the following; formulation of workable fisheries policies for the development and exploitation of the fisheries economic sub-sector, co-ordination of all fisheries activities as they relate to fish farming and capture fisheries data collation in the state, give professional advice to fish farmers and fishermen in the state and assisting fish farmers and fishers to improve on their productivity by provision of input facilities when necessary.

 

Policy Mandate

Sustain production of fish for the people, create employment to the jobless, alleviate hunger malnutrition and poverty. Improve on the standard of living of the people; ensure sustainability and security of products for the present and future generations.
